Top and best Places to see and visit in Bahamas

2008 marks the beginning of the new changes in store for the Bahamas to which its major development lies to both the Cable Beach on New Providence Island outside Nassau and the mammoth Atlantis Resort on nearby Paradise Island. Botique Resorts are also in lined with the new developments in 2008 which opens at the sleepy Eleuthera.

Cable Beach promoters are getting ready to give the mammoth Paradise Island resort a threat and a challenge. Cable Beach, the shoreline strip of hotels and condos outside Nassau, will experience a building boom in the years between 2009 and possible 2010.

In 2007 came massive multimillion-dollar improvements to Cable Beach. There has been rumors that one day, this resort would look like as if it was designed by Walt Disney. Some other improvements include the creation of a redesigned golf course, new marinas, and even new "lakes."

The reopening of the famous Compass Point Hotel on Cable Beach is just one of the many hotel developments that are planned. The founder of Virgin Records, Chris Blackwell, who plans to add brightly painted Creole "huts" to his hotel. The once-private haven of the reggae star, the Bob Marley Resort, which was just exclusive for himself and his family is being converted into a hotel.

On the 92-hectare (230-acre) Rose Island, an exclusive retreat 6.4km (4 miles) off the coast of Nassau, the Ritz Carlton chain is planning a deluxe hotel.

Honored as perhaps the finest restaurant on the Island, Lakeview Road at East Shirley Street (tel. 242/393-1205), Sun and . . . made a comeback and redeemed its mythical position among local restaurants. Sun and . . . remains as the top independent choice on New Providence as more and more guests dine only at their hotels. They even got the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island's customers to eat at their place.

The opening of Moso in the Wyndham Nassau Resort (tel. 242/327-6200) has created the most media buzz on Cable Beach itself. Being one of the finest dining picks of the Baha Mar Cable Beach complex in asia, its Mongolian-style chicken, beef hot pie, and its savory crispy duck are just some of the expertise of the Bahamian staff with the touch of Far Eastern flavor.
